Santiam Wagon Road Exhibition

September 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Celebrate the cultural heritage of the Santiam Wagon Road (SWR) and step back in time at the historic Fish Lake Remount Depot Saturday, September 28th from 10 AM to 4 PM.  This family friendly event features living history, site tours, packstring demonstrations, local Native American artisans, historic wagons, vintage cars, and the Leland Gilsen Traveling Museum.

Event Details

  • Free admission! (Donations accepted on-site by check or cash only.)
  • Bring a picnic lunch and blanket! Limited refreshments will be provided, but there will be no food vendors on-site.
  • Period-accurate attire is highly encouraged (Late 1800s, early 1900s). If you dress in modern clothing, you’re likely to be an outlier at this event!
  • Immersive events throughout the day such as a wagon parade, pack string demonstration, living history interactions and much more!
  • Activities for kids (mule meet and greet, activity table, giveaways and more!).
  • Be sure to RSVP (complete and submit this form to RSVP). While this is a free event, the capacity of this historic site is limited. We are keeping participants low to reduce impact to the site.
