Board Recruitment

Support Programs, Stewardship, and Education on our Local Public Lands – Become a Board Member!

Cascade Volunteers seeks new board members for terms beginning January 2024.

Cascade Volunteers is the 501(c)(3) friends group of the Willamette National Forest.  We work to connect individuals and communities to the Willamette National Forest and adjacent public lands through programs, stewardship, and education.  We train and support volunteers who educate forest visitors, maintain trails, identify invasive species, and more.  We lead stewardship projects in Oregon’s beautiful Cascade Mountains.  We work to make our public lands a more welcoming place for everyone.

Board volunteers support our Willamette National Forest partnership goals:  Connection to Community; Connection to the Land; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Forest-Wide Support.  The board works as a group to develop long-term plans, provide oversight and policies, and to raise resources for the organization.  Cascade Volunteers provides Directors and Officers Insurance to protect volunteers from personal liability.  Board members are elected for a two-year term of office.

We seek board volunteers 18 years of age or older with broad skill sets and networks from all kinds of backgrounds.  We strive to build a diverse board that represents the individuals, groups, and communities that use our public lands.  We are currently looking for individuals that have one or more of the following skill sets:  Finance and accounting, fundraising, marketing, meeting facilitation, data collection and analysis, project or risk management, training or experience in education, interpretation, and/or volunteer management, community engagement, and/or prior board experience.
